There are a few words, but they're just barely adopted from another language.
qintar--a fractional monetary unit of Albania
qiviut--the fine hair on a musk ox. (from the Eskimo word)
Both these words appear in my Webster's New World Dictionary, 2nd Collegiate Edition.
We get our qu constructions from the Latin language.

I couldn't find an English word without 'u', and only a few Arabic and Chinese words without 'u'. Good q-estion, though! Don't know why...custom?

I don't know of any English words beginning with q which don't have a u as the second letter.

However, in Klingonaase, there is Q'onos. :)

There are a few, but they're all loanwords from other languages.

The URL in my source list has quite a few.
