Hello - I just got let go on Friday (14th) due to a company wide staff reduction by seniority. In this job I had been paying for disability so that when I got pregnant (which I am now, 7 months along) I would have it to pay for maternity leave. I was with this company for 2+ yrs.

Well, now that I was let go and I am due February 9th I have no idea how to handle the unemployment/disability.

The unemployment obviously states that you have to be available and able to work. Well, at this point it is getting more and more difficult for me to be on my feet and there is such a short time between now and the baby coming I do not see how I would be able to find a brand new job and then take maternity leave right away.......

I don't know how disability works now that I am not working either. Do i still get to benefit from this plan??

Does anyone have any suggestions on how i'm supposed to handle this.. I am getting very stressed worrying about doing things right and need the $$$ :(.

You will get unemployment since you were working and were able to work. If you look for work and accept it if offered you should be eligible. You would need to read your disability policy to see if it can convert to personal coverage. AFLAC can, check with your old HR department to find out if they can help you.

You need to say what country/state you're in, or no one can help you.

There are also probably better categories in which to ask this question (e.g., Law).
