i was burning this cd for my uncle in windows media player and at the near end of the burn, the thing brought up an error message that said it could not complete the burn and then said something about try another brand of cd or something like that. It then ejected the cd. Anyways, i didn't know what exactly that meant cause i was burning to that same type of cd all day.

Anyways i tried to burn again using Nero, but they said the cd wasn't empty or blank...and i am confused cause i never burned anything to the cd and when insert the cd and go to my computer and check the memory its completely empty. So could you tell me what is going on here and if somehow i burned a blank cd and totally wasted it.

The exact message i got was

"Windows Media Player cannot burn the files to the CD. Verify that the disc is clean and not damaged. If necessary, select a slower recording speed or try a different brand of blank discs."

CDFS borked out on you during the burn. It happens. The disc is irretrievable, and you can't use it. Use a new one. It's true about slower burns though.. you should try to burn at 8x or even 4x if this is a data disk containing programs.

Depending on your computer setup, this could be a reoccuring problem. The slightest glitch while recording a cd and you have a wonderful coaster. I have burned many of these in my days. Even when CD's where more expensive. Throw this CD out and get it away from the possibilities of trying it again. Try restarting your computer and using a fresh CDR. There is no way to erase a CDR. Also every once and a while you get a bad CD. Lower your recording speed, switch brands of CDs and defrag your hard drive if this continues. Another thing to look into is updating your firmware on your burner.

Hope this helps.

There is no way that you can get the CD to work. You can't erase CD-R's, only CD-RW (re-write.) The reason that it says there is nothing on there could be caused by a heap of reasons, for example it could be just because there is not a complete file on there but just part of a file from when somebody started burning it but didn't work. You may as well throw the CD in the bin because you won't be able to delete what is on there

Use the CD for a drink coaster and try a new one.
