Hello Trey,
i was shocked because i hadn't heard of it yet til i read the paper. I knew he was diagnosed with prostate cancer and i was shocked. I grew up in the 70's listening to James Taylor, Carly Simon, Carole King and Dan Fogelberg. Areally wonderful era of music from some talented performers.
I started listening to Dan when i was about 12 years old.. and i still have all of his vinyl albums... YES VINYL....lol and grew to love his music throughout the years. I think the music era lost a great friend, a great songwriter and storyteller if you will. His song Leader of the Band, actually made me stop and think of how wonderful and precious my father is. He is now 64 and i couldn't imagine my life without him. In a way my father is a leader of a band as well..... of 9 wonderful children.

What a wonderful person he was and how many hearts he touched..

Spanky, anytime is a great time for good memories... put a cd on now... trust me let it take you back.

I have been very sad since I heard the news on Sunday. He's always been one of my favorites, ever since 1975 when I first heard Part of the Plan. Back then he was the opening act for The Eagles when they would play in huge football stadium venues.
I never stopped listening to his music and loved it all. His early recordings let you know just how deep a singer/songwriter he was. If you're a fan and have never heard his album Home Free from 1972, give it a try. You'll love it!
Anyway, I will continue to mourn his passing today. It's on my mind all the time. He has left a void that no one can fill.

I always thought Same Old Lang Syne was such a poignant song. and Leader of the Band used to make me tear up. I'm a head banger, but I really liked the stories he told. Check out The Very Best of Dan Fogelberg. Play it some night when you just want to chill w/a bottle of wine (cooler).

You can go on his website to leave a personal msg. http://www.danfogelberg.com/news.html

My youthful years are packed with memories of his mind-blowing song. i do no longer possibly undergo in ideas precisely how or the place I "stumbled on" him - i like to think of he stumbled on me. He so touched me. even nonetheless i did no longer be attentive to him in my view, i think like he knew me with the aid of fact the way he wrote replaced into purely the way i presumed and felt. His variety of skills is purely approximately non-existent anymore. as far as i'm in contact, he's between the main proficient and gifted artists of my technology. the variety of beautiful person. the international is far less now. My coronary heart is hurting.

He was really popular in the 70's soft rock era.. Many people used his music as "their song" for weddings, high school proms and the like... I was very young but, I remember his music my parents liked to listen to him.. It's very sad that he has passed....
