Pill/Period/Pregnancy question?

I have been on the chewable pill for a few months now and what I'm wondering is why they give inactive pills for while you are on your period. If you can get pregnant while on your period, why the inactive pill?

So if I have sex while taking the inactive pills, my question is can I get pregnant?

The inactive pills are reminder pills, so that you remember to take them. Most pills come with 7 inactive pills. How ever Yaz comes with only 4. You have your period during your inactive week. With Yaz, since there are only 4 pills, this makes your periods lighter.
