Does anyone know where I can find a quote by Sir John French on the 'shell scandal' (the shortage of munitions at the battle of Neuve Chapelle)? All I know from the internet is that he blamed the British failure of the battle on the lack of artillery shells...

Any other quote about the lack of ammunition from early WW1 would also be very helpful.

However, I can't find any quotes in which he actually states this. I really need to find this quote for a paper I'm working on. If anyone knows of where I can find a quote, or has one in a history book- please, please let me know!

All you have to do is go to the firstworldwar.com website - then look in the encyclopedia under 'S' for "Shell Scandal" - it is there.

"On 28 May, after the battles in north and south had petered out, Sir John French was forced to order the First Army to limit its operations to 'small aggressive threats which will not require much ammunition or many troops.'"

There are some reasons....... some human beings are in contact Obama ought to aim to tax ammo, ban particular weapons and / or enforce different anti-gun coverage's.... Others are in contact that with a bitter economic equipment there may be a upward thrust in crime so they're hoarding ammunition..... human beings like me are in contact approximately inflation using the expenditures up -- so i'm stocking up so i don't could pay inflated distorted expenditures later.... And there are some human beings that are out on the lunatic fringe..... they think of the economic equipment will crumple, the top of the international is close to... The UN will take over and different off beat techniques.... i think of those types have there tin foil hats out of adjustment..... This ammo shortage stuff started kicking into kit approximately 6 to 7 months in the past...... national ammo has been short --- once you detect it - purchase It!!..
