They havent been paid by the company we did the work for. But I have done the work for the company who hired me. Can they withhold monies that I am owed for that reason?

No, unless your contract specifies that. Their agreement with someone else is not your business and not your problem.

If your contract specifies a time period for payment, and doesn't mention anything about waiting for their customer to pay them, and they pass that deadline, they are delinquent in payment to you.

if your going to be welfemployed, why not learn like I did. it is easy to do and handle your guy or woman economic affairs. You shop money that way too. I had my business enterprise license and tax extensive type. I paid revenues tax each month that's due if your going to run abusniess and then on the top of the twelve months I filed my taxes. i substitute into audited various years in the past and that i handed with flying colorings as a results of fact I enable H&R Block do my taxes:)

Depends on your contract they may just be your collection source so pass on your share when the customer pays.
I did the accounting for a company that sold janitorial franchises. We found the work and gave it to the franchises, we collected for them and gave them their share. They were often angry at me because they didn't get a check because their customers didn't pay.
If you did something like as a subcontractor on a home you can get a mechanic's lien.

they can until they do what you call a walk threw. that were they walk threw and make sure every thang is the way they want it. but then they should pay you.
