Why? I have reintalled drivers, completed diag tests,and nothing shows up. All of a sudden, a beep and keyboard goes dead. Tried other keybords an samething.When I look in control panel-keyboard my driver is no longer there...Anyone know why?

This is peculiar. Are you using a USB or PS2?
As far as I know, keyboards don't hibernate.
Consistently dropping the driver... If you are sure of that, that is not so good. Sounds very system32ish.

Use the other kind of keyboard. If you are using USB try PS2 and vice versa. Also, if you are using USB try a different physical port. That beep might be a usb device disconnecting, and that could be from one of the pins disengaging in the port.

unless you have a fancy keyboard or do something i dont do, you shouldn't need any software for it, xp and vista have plug and play. try this if you want, remove any software you installed for the keyboard, turn off puter, boot it back up then plug the keyboard in, if no soap you can always reinstall the software.
