I was hired for a good position, had a very awkward start, & realized that the job was a huge stretch for me. I'm keeping my head above water

That said, since my start date (a few months ago), I have been tried for all I'm worth. I tend to be shy and don't have much experience public speaking, and I was asked to help with speaking in front of a large group without any prep, been humiliated in front of the rest of the staff, been ogled by male coworkers I work with often (oh, yes, I have large breasts) -- I have psychological issues and this tauting and teasing just shone a light right on them all. I was an anxious mess and left the office on more than one occasion. Still, they never fired me (yet), and I need the money and the benefits, and cannot take lower pay

My confidence, however, has been at an all time low. My supervisor fakes having confidence in me, and this intimidates me. I feel like such an underling when I'm with the core group I work with. How do I counteract all this?

See a therapist or a life coach. You need to work on how you come across to people and dealing with difficult situations which will happen in a job like that. You might also look at role playing - trying out different ways of handling a situation to see what works for you and the possible outcome of what would happen. There are books on this, but it requires a lot of practice on your part. I have been in supervision and decided I didn't like it. I decided it was worth stepping down in the last position. It was a very good move for me.

how about seeing a therapist? you say you have psychological issues and they will haunt you in all jobs you take until you get a handle on your life.

if you continue to fail at this job, you can pretty realistically anticipate that they will let you go, so you might as well risk getting at the root of the problem and working on it, sooner than later. best of luck.
