Is it too "out there" or will work fine for my girl? I just don't like names that are too common...I will call her Ellie, Ella or Lia, probably.. but how does the whole name sound? Be honest. Thanx in advance!!!

I love Eliana but don't like Soleil. However, the sounds go well together. My favorite nickname for Eliana is Ana. I like Lia as well.

Common names are helpful when your child tries to get out into the real world. "Unique" or "exotic" names do not. So you have to ask yourself what kind of life you hope your child has in the future. If you find it acceptable that they work for McDonalds, Wal Mart, or the Spearmint Rhino, then by all means, name them something ridiculous with as many letters you can cram in that is hard to spell and pronounce.
Study after study after study after study continues to prove that what someone is named and how it looks on paper (for resumes and applications) matters emensely when they try to get a decent job or go to college. Names matter. So if you name your daughter something just because you don't think it's "too common," you may be setting her up for failure later in life.

Eliana is amazing. I dont really care for Soleil as a middle name myself. I would go with Mercedes.

I love the name Eliana... I think you could do with out the Solay though... Solay is a little out there. For a famous person it would be ok... but in normal life... it can be done without! Congrats on ur baby!

It's cute!! I like 'out there'. Because no one else would have that name. But I also like Isabela as a first name. Hope that you don't have any trouble when the baby is born!!
