Ok so I had a problem with my car a few days ago, & I asked a question & now I have another one. Now the right tire won't spin, you can hear it trying to do something it sounds like rattling down there by the (right) tire. I had to put it in neutral and have it pushed into a parking spot cause it won't move. My dad said it is probably the CV Joint completely broke, but I just want some other opinions. I know it needs shocks/struts, because every time I hit the most simple bump it scrapes like you couldn't imagine. But that just started recently too, so I don't know if something happened that made everything break at once? I'm not a bad driver, I'm cautious going over bumps & I'm not a speed demon or anything. It's a '93 Intrepid. Any opinions would be sooooo appreciated. Thanks!!

Bad strut which caused the axle to go bad, dads right on that one. It would be cheaper and easier to replace the whole axle instead of the boot, also check your ball joints

Yes it broke, the sound is the open differential spinning the side with least resistance, which is the broken side. Bad struts will cause all sorts of breakage because other parts will be taking the road shocks, your car weighs thousands of pounds, somethings gonna give. Struts cost about 60 each cv joints about 140 each. Installation is about 200,.. maybe, mechanic work.. also will need an alignment afterwards 40. You should try to replace both at once if at all possible. I've done everything but the alignment at home following the shop manuals, took a couple afternoons, and alot of tools.

Your dad's right. CV axles do go out occasionally with out having treated the vehicle badly, and being as to how it's a 93 it has probably just given up. A CV axle for your car isn't that expensive anyways it's approx. $60 with a $30 or $40 core charge. Struts wouldn't prevent the vehicle from moving, CV axle would. Good luck!

it looks like the answers for your first question was more along the lines of "get it to a mechanic" ... sounds like you waited, and now whatever was causing your issues before is now going to cost you a lot of money.

Unfortunately, it sounds like you broke something - more than just a CV joint. You'll need to get it to a mechanic to assess the damage - without seeing the car, no one here can guess what's wrong. The only way you can actually tell if a CV joint broke is to look at it - not from a description on the internet.

Problem 1-Chrysler Ingenuity.
Problem 2-Cv joints (easily replaced, but not cheaply)

I agree with your dad, sounds like a cv joint

I know you hate to have to utter these words, but practice them.

"You're right Dad"

Seriously, if it's FWD, and the front wheels aren't moving, then it's limited to the transmission itself, or the CV joint.

I think your dad may be right, or the caliper piston may also be overextended,
