Most teachers spend a lot of money on classroom things. A gift card at a teacher store or any Office supply place is welcome.

Okay I'm a teacher and I'm always thankful for any gift I might or have received, but if you're asking about gifts that are truly useful then it would have to be a mall gift card or a gift certif. to a spa for a manicure or pedicure. Teacher store gift cards come in handy, but many school districts have accounts with a Staples or Office Max type stores (FYI). A nice matching fleece scarf and glove set, or candles.
I hope that helped....happy shopping, your teacher is lucky to have such a generous student.

Ohhh, I just thought of one more......gas gift cards, those are SUPER handy, also scratch off lotto cards, those are fun and can be holiday themed.

I usually give a gift card to a nice restaraunt like outback, Chili's, etc. and Movie tickets because then they can go do what they want when they want.
Another good idea is like a small figurine about their subject like I got my band teacher a little statue of the treble clef sign and my social studies teacher a clay model of the George washington Delaware river thingy.

Hope this helps!!

Coming from a teacher, don't give them chocolate and a card! Get them a giftcard to a teacher store or an office supply store or one for a manicure. Believe me, that will mean a lot more than chocolate. We already get tons of chocolate and stuffed animals from our kids.

Of course chocolate is always good....unless the recipient is diabetic, allergic, or (foolishly) trying to diet. Here are some calorie-free ideas.

Pens with different colors of ink-I never use red to mark papers. Looks like blood. Stick them in a pretty christmas mug, and voila! pretty gift.

For a female teacher--a small manicure set to keep in her desk. I was always breaking nails and having to trim them with my scissors because I didn't carry one in my purse and never thought to buy one for when I was at school.

Colorful post-it notes in different sizes--cool colors you don't usually see.

Funky colors of pens for the whiteboard-usually the school just provides the standard red, blue, green, and black.

An EZ-grader--most of us already have one, but it's nice to have a spare at home. You can find one at a teacher supply store, maybe at Staples, too. It's a cardboard device you use to help calculate percentage scores on assignments. You set it for the number of points items on the assignment and then in another window, it shows the percentage grade for the number of items right.

A neat craft idea that's a twist on the apple for the teacher thing.

For each gift you will need:

1 large apple that sits flat on its bottom
1 eight-inch taper candle
12" of ribbon (curling or wired), or raffia, or tinsel garland

glitter-glue, beads, sequins, hot glue are optional.

Wash the apples and polish til they shine.
In the stem end of each apple (the top) cut a hole the diameter of the candle and about 1 to 1.5 inches deep with a sharp paring knife.
Force the candle into the hole until it fits snugly.
Tie ribbon, raffia, or garland around candle at base (near top of apple).

Decorate apple, ribbon, candle with glitter, sequins, etc, if desired.

Hmmm...I am sure I will think of a million other things as soon as I submit.

Honestly, what a teacher would love the most isn't a "thing." Write her/him a nice note of appreciation, what his/her class has meant to you, how much you've learned, etc. That will mean more to a teacher than any "thing" you could possibly get.

Give them a gift card to Starbucks or something like that. I am sure they will appreciate it and it doesn't have to cost much. They get enough lotions and body oils and food.

I'm getting my teachers a card and candy-cane. It's just to show my appreciation to them. You don't have to go give them anything too big. Unless... you have lots & lots of pocket money.

;D
