A police officer, though scheduled for all-night duty at the station, was relieved of duty early and arrived home four hours ahead of schedule, at 2 in the morning. Not wanting to wake his wife, he undressed in the dark, crept into the bedroom and started to climb into bed. Just then, his wife sleepily sat up and said, "Mike, dearest, would you go down to the all-night drug store on the next block and get me some aspirin? I've got a splitting headache."

"Certainly, honey," he said, and feeling his way across the dark room, he got dressed and walked over to the drug store.

As he arrived, the pharmacist looked up in surprise, "Say," said the druggist, "I know you - aren't you a policeman? Officer Fenwick, right?"

"Yeah, so?" said the officer.

"Well what the heck are you doing all dressed like the Fire Chief?"

I know exactly how you feel. I am married to a marine who works 12-15 hours a day and has long trainings that leave me home alone for sometimes several weeks at a time. We just found out that we are expecting in October. In May my husband will deploy until November. I get to go through the pregnancy and birth and a month after wards without him- not to mention the constant worry about his safety. I know how hard and lonely it can be. Try to keep yourself busy and spend the little time you have together. Its hard but its what we do. I married my husband knowing being a marine was his dream and you married yours knowing he was going to be a cop. We knew what we were getting in to. The main thing is to keep busy, have a strong support- someone you can talk to, be good to yourself, be proud of the hard work your husband does, stand by him, support him and love him.

Yes I would say so! We had a situation here in Ann Arbor that happened very close to your joke only it wasn't the Fire Chief it was the cops boss, the Police Chief!! Your question now reminded me of this and I am laughing at both right now. LOL !!! Keep them coming.
