Probably copper as already mentioned. I've tried the CLR and Lime-away to clean my "green stuff" but they didn't work. The best and easiest thing I found to clean any kind of mineral deposits in sinks, bathtubs and toilets is a pumice stone (Pumie Pumice Scouring Stick) which can be purchased in almost any hardware store.
