Sounds like it's probably a wooden nickel. Different businesses put them out as promotional tools.

It could also be play money.

The number on it (1612) is probably the year. However, I do not believe that your coin is actually that old. Probably some kind of replica.

It is a form of what is called a wooden nickel these days. As time went by they came up with wooden dollars also. It is an advertising piece, a prize token or a token bought to play a game in an arcade. They are cheaper to make than medal tokens. I had seen several like it when Yahoo had its auctions. They sold for .50 to about a $1. Many came from arcades in Florida. Without the company name they are considered maverick tokens and are hard to track down.
