Yes. The U.N. is an impotent, corrupt body. Why should the U.S. be considered the equal of third world countries? China on the human rights committee what a joke.

I think the UN is very important, we need some sort of international body to address world-wide concerns.

Unfortunately, the US government hasn't displayed a great deal of respect for the views of the UN. Some US citizens complain about the money that the US has invested in the UN, as though the world should rubber-stamp whatever we do. If the US wants to be able to positively influence world opinion, it would be wise to work with the UN. Otherwise, we'll become an isolated, and armed country. But if our citizens hate the money we give to the UN, then I think we should stop investing in the UN, and suffer the consequences, whatever they may be.

No. The UN is a mess, but think how bad it would be if the United States was not in it. The main failure of the League of Nations was that the United States was not a member.

Since its existence, the UN has functioned pretty well. It isn't perfect, but no institution is.

The UN is a room with chairs in it!

Why is anyone talking about "them", are you referring to the chairs?

Sorry to tell you but America sits on one of those chairs, UN failure is partly US failure, after all the US is on the security council right?

Get a grip...

Absolutely. Why should we remain in an organization which expects us to pick up the lion's share of the bill, yet spends most of its time denouncing us?
