I have a Compaq Presario SR1817CL Window XP sp2 Desktop PC, AMD Athlon 64, 3200+, 994MHz, with 2.43 GB Ram. and 1 PCI Express x16 slot, Max. output wattage:
300W. 200 GB HD. ATI Radeon Xpress 200 integrated graphic card.
I want to upgrade to a better graphic card. I found one. The NVIDIA
8500 GT 512MB PCIe by PNY. Sounds ok, but can anyone advise me on the best card that’ll work within the limited 300watt power supply? Or is this the one I should go with?
I tried my old Radeon X1300 with little improvement.

Why not just upgrade the PS also.

I just looked on http://www.tigerdirect.com and the 500W power supplies are running from $30 to $60.

Not a bad price range for a 500W.

Hope this helps.
