I have been on birth control for a year and only occasionally experienced breakthrough bleeding.
I started spotting a week ago (on my last week of 'active' pills).. I normally would have gotten my period today. This morning I was spotting a bit more than normal, but nothing more than a light bleed. Is it possible that I won't get my period because there's no more blood to be shed (sounds stupid, I know..) ??
I've taken two home pregnancy tests and they were both negative, but I'm not sure if it's too soon to tell..
Thanks!

No, that shouldn't change when your period comes but sometimes spotting can occur because your body is trying to adjust to the medication if you are just starting out on a new brand (if there's been a change in brand).

Also, sometimes spotting can occur if we are stressed out about something (whether good or bad). It can also sometimes be an indication of infection. The only way to know for sure is to see your doctor for further evaluation of the situation to see what they think could be going on.
