“Colder Still ”

There once was a time when I felt joy
When comfort and peace were mine
And serene was my dwelling place
Then torment came with It’s cold, cold heart
To steal the warmth and take my peace
Leaving only It’s bitter killing frost
He left his mark without regard to me
Murdering the innocence that was mine
And longs to be still….
Oh who can save me from this frozen place, my life
Trapped beneath this avalanche
Still unable to move
The harder I struggle to escape
The further down I sink
I see no foot-holds, no obvious way to rise above this
Though I desire a way out
I am completely surrounded by ice
One step in the wrong direction
And I fear everything will shatter under my feet
Taking away what little is left
And leaving me colder still….

Colder steal, you took me
Colder steel, you made me
Colder still, you left me….

Sure, the semantic indirection of these lines leaves some sweet taste in one's mouth:

Colder steal, you took me
Colder steel, you made me
Colder still, you left me

The poem expresses an ironic funny coldness. It can be read well alongside the poems here:

I really like that a lot. It's deep. I love the end. Colder steal, you took me.. Colder steel you made me, colder still you left me... great ending.
