...and why?

Obviously English the common language in the United States..but I ask this due to the absurd amount of Spanish being spoken now. Many illegal immigrants are starting to demand Spanish as a secondary language to accompany English, and I think if they chose to live here, they should learn to speak how we do here.

It should be required to speak English fluently, and with the out of hand immigration we have, we should be teaching spanish as a High school requirement also. But, English has always been the official language, so if one desires to come here, they should speak english as the official language and in their homes and cultures, speak what ever language they wish.

Yes. English. Or American English, as we refer to it. It's some what different than the Queen's English. Why? Primarily for expedience in daily business and economic matters. It's also the language used here since the beginning.

Yes, It costs way to much money to print out every form the government needs in every language under the sun. Not to mention providing foreign language operators on government phone services. If we wantedto imigrate to another nation that does not speak english you need to learn their language before becoming a citizen. It makes sense we should do the same.

It was one of the first decisions made in the The Articles of Confederation and Perpetual Union. Then provided for at the First Continental Congress. When the Government Printing Office was established. All documents were to be printed in English.

They can demand that Spanish is taught in school all that but the reality is without English, one can not go far in this country.

We already have one common language, English. That’s what our constitution was written in an what business uses to communicate.

Yes, all legal residents are supposed to be able to read and write the english language. We shouldn't have any other language to conduct government business.
