Not only is it mentioned in the song "It's The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year", I have read about it too. Ghosts........Christmas........no, I don't see the connection!

It started with Charles Dickens and his story "A Christmas Carol," in which 4 ghosts visit Ebeneezer Scrooge to get him to change his miserly and mean ways (yes, people, 4 ghosts, including Jacob Marley).

The only "ghosts" I have heard about were in the story of Scrooge. They are in the story to teach people about being uncaring during the holidays. I hardly think they are on the same level as campfire ghosts, however.

When Grandma got run over by a reindeer it started a urban myth that still lives on to this day. Grandma's ghost started turning up in the oddest places, and we as the mere humans we are, had to turn to storytelling in order to deal with the trauma.

Yeah, the movie 'The Nightmare before Christmas' does sort of reek of ghosts, death, rotting bodies, blood, etc, etc.... weird.
