I dont know where they come up with 350..450 etc..any bed of coals from even a small fire themselves or 1000 to 1200 degrees farenheit...I have burnt wood heaters all my life and have seen them glow red from so much heat in cold winters...and still got 10 or 12 years out of them...on a pot belly stove the material on the bottom where the coals set is the same as the sides, fronts etc...so they can handle 1000 to 1200 degrees farenheit as well...Feel free to heat this baby as hot as you need to make your house feel comfortable..it isn't going to break or melt down on you!

ya but you will weaken the stove metal and cause it to crack, or buckel, if you dont melt the pipes first,
then you will be outa luck,

keep it where it is. you could probably get 400 or 450 out of it, but you are pushing it
