I'd have to say both. Hard work thru environmental nurturing would have a bigger influence. Genetics would just present the *ceiling* or potential for that intelligence growth.

Someone got it wrong. It is about 80% inherited and about 20% from the environment. However, intelligence only determines your ability to learn, not how smart you are.

I'm going to say 5% genetic and 95% environment. I was lucky enough to have a stay-at-home mom who taught me speech and letters and numbers when I was a very young infant. I was way ahead of my class in early years of school. From there, I don't know what the heck went wrong! ? ! ! ? ? ! ! ! ? ? ! !
