I'm 33 wks pregnant & already started losing weight..
By the time i was 28 wks i had gained 35lbs & my dr told me to watch what i was eating because i gained 20lbs in 6 wks so i started eating healthier, cutt off junk food & sweets completely & i am walking 30 min a day every day.. I lost 5lbs in a month.. Not much i know, but considering i have a growing baby inside i think i'm doing pretty good. I am not trying to lose weight as much as trying not to gain anymore..

Just eat healthy & stay active.. Don't try to lose weight, Try to gain as little as possible. Good Luck

God Bless

It is not uncommon to lose weight during a pregnancy...especially if you are overweight to start with. Morning sickness for most women who get it is in the 1st trimester of the pregnancy and then goes away. The morning sickness can cause you to lose weight if you are throwing up everything you eat. It is also common to lose weight or stop gaining weight in the last month of pregnancy. I think this is due to there not being any room for food with your big baby taking up alot of space.

Dieting, however, is very dangerous for you and the baby. You must eat in order to get the baby nutrients. The baby cannot live off of things you've previously eaten and have stored as fat on your body.

short answer, no. its not safe to diet while pregnant.

long answer, maybe. if you are overweight going into a pregnancy, you may find that you lose weight during pregnancy. You start paying more attention to what you eat, and your body will naturally burn off extra weight to feed the growing baby. eat healthy, don't overindulge ( you are eating for 2, but one is only a few ounces!!) and you will not only lose some weight, but you will have an easier delivery and faster recovery. Good luck!

Some women lose a few pounds during the first trimester, but you should never, EVER try to lose weight while pregnant. You could cause serious damage or even KILL your unborn baby. You can start dieting as soon as they cut the cord, but please don't start a minute sooner!
