Let 3 cm = x km
therefore 1 cm = x/3

Then 4x/3 = 14.7 km
4x = 3 X 14.7
4x = 44.1km
x = 44.1 divided by 4
x = 11.025km

Therefore the scale on the map is 3cm = 11.025 km
