If so what is your solution in addressing the problem?

I really do think they do. I also think it is extremely naive for people not to think that. I have never read a news article that didn't mention how the criminal was "Muslim". Yet for some reason when some guy held up a bank I don't recall them saying he was a "Christian".

It is not just US media. In Canada too. This girl was recently killed by her father (allegedly because she would not wear the hijab/head covering). Instead of making it about the poor girl and domestic violence at home - they turned it into a media circus about religious extremism and all about the head covering.

It sells papers and they play on people's emotions of fear.

The only solution is for the media to stop doing this. But it probably won't happen. And people will never stop tuning into this or buying it via newspapers and magaziens. Maybe a boycott of the news, but then again the news does other bad things besides portraying these people as terrorists.

Hmm, well, if it's not obvious by now, then not very many people are paying attention, lol!

For example... everyone's by now heard about the man in Canada who killed his daughter (apparently over a headscarf issue). But it took a while before anyone announced that the student who stood up for Jews against 10 people in NYC was a Muslim. It's common that when a Muslim does something bad, there's always a mention (or a hundred) of "Muslim," Islam," or something similar. It's made to seem as if he's like this because of his religion. But at the same time, when a Muslim does something good, you have to put them through a wringer before they mention anything about religion. Hypocrisy stinks. 'S why I don't rely on the media anymore.

And that's about all there is... it's so rampant that there is no solution to such a virus. Either that or I'm all outta fresh ideas. Or perhaps too tired to keep trying. Eh, sometimes I give in easy... but not always. ;-P

Yes. However, it is hard to deny that from our Western viewpoint almost all terrorists are either Arabs and/or Muslims.

Just look at the Wiki list below of religous terrorist organisations and see how many are Islamist.

The real problem is this. The media say that "Almost all terrorists are Muslims" (actually a fair comment) but people subconsiously hear "Almost all Muslims are terrorists". The US media need to portray the moderate, modern, secular Muslims more and in a positive light.

Trust me - they ain't all bad!

Good question...As a person who enjoys "political thrillers/action movies"...I will only watch a movie about the middle east if it has a really good point... like Syriana for example. It showed many sides of the story.

I was really pissed that 24 seasons 2, 4, and 6 "went there" with the whole terrorist stereotype, but hopefully in season 7 they'll get off it.

Don't feel bad...hollywood's crappy writers stereotyped Russians as terrorists for at least 20 years straight. It really got boring after a while.

Absolutely not. Most of the US media love to promote the leftist belief that Bush is the terrorist, and that the right is full of Timothy McVeighs just waiting to come out of the woodwork. The media doesn't promote the fact that most of the terrorists just happen to be Muslims, it's just a fact. It doesn't mean all Muslims are terrorists, but when a survey of Muslims that were living in America at the time showed that one in ten believed the attacks of 9/11 were justifiable, you've got a problem.

Yes I do. There are American terrorists as well. They need to bring them to light.
