Geuss you forgot about Carolina....eh? (and Minnesota)

The Patriots are named after an entire region comprised of multiple states (New England). Also, you forgot the Minnesota Vikings and the Carolina Panthers.

Why the Golden State Warriors? Why the New Jersey Nets? Why the (former) California Angels? Why the Utah Jazz? Why the Minnesota Timberwolves? Why the Minnesota Twins? Seriously, what's up with Minnesota? Have they got solidarity or what? Why the Texas Rangers? Why the Colorado Rockies? Why the Florida Marlins? Why the Arizona Diamondbacks?

Why? Why? Why?

I don't know. I guess the team owner can do whatever he wants, huh?

Full list of NFL teams called by state names:
New York Jets
Tennessee Titans
New York Giants
Minnesota Vikings
Arizona Cardinals

and two teams are called by even more general names that refer to multiple states:
Carolina Panthers
New England Patriots
(and I guess you could even include the Rams in this category because the city of St Louis is in two states)

Clearly, a lot of NFL teams are called by state names. I suppose you could argue that the Jets and Giants are both named after New York City, but both ARE called the New York Jets/Giants, and not the New York City Jets/Giants.

You're wrong, New York Jets/Giants, Minnesotta Vikings, Arizona Cardinals, Carolina Panthers.

Just because when people hear the word "Tennessee"
, they may think about football. The Volunteers of Tennessee have a rich football tradition in the SEC. When people hear the word "Nashville", they think about country music and blues. Like the other guy said, " Nashville Titans just doesn't sound right.
