How do you flush the heating core?

If the engine is not overheating you most likely have a problem with the valve that regulates the hot water coming into the heater core.

That is, if this problem came on suddenly. If it slowly got worse and worse, I would suspect a clogged heat core.

Good luck

Check the 2 hoses running to the heater core under the hood at the firewall....they should both be hot when engine is fully warmed up. If not, check for a bad water control valve that allows or shuts off coolant to the heater core depending on whether the a/c is on or not....not sure if your vehicle has this setup. Could also be from a plugged heater core but then one hose may be hot while the other is cold. A bad blend door or actuator for it (or vacuum leak)---under the dash in the heater-a/c ductwork--- can also not allow hot air to be distributed to the vents. A blend door in the ductwork is used on a/c systems to "blend" warm/hot air from the heater core with outside air to get the temp you want by adjusting the temp lever..some are cable operated and some are vacuum or electrically operated in conjunction with a diaphram or actuator that operates the door. Vacuum operated ones can go bad or if there's a vacuum leak, not operate properly....listen for a constant hissing noise under the dash.

you could disconeect the supply and return lines to the coil and flush it out, maybe your bypass hose from the pump is kinked
