Well, a prostitute has sex for money and drugs.
Whereas a girl with many boyfriends does it for 'love', usually meaning jewelry, alcohol, clothes, food, a place to stay, you know, things that cost money. And then they leave, claiming that the guy cheated on them with a girl just as trashy and spoiled as themselves, and go suck monetary goods out of the next guy they 'love'.

and the girl who has had serveral boyfriends in the past could be called a slut, but not fairly

Perhaps jealousy is behind this question, but give women equal status with men and realise they can have sex with as many people as they want without being any less worthy than anyone else.
If women really conformed to the unrealistic ideal who didn't sleep around (like men try to) but tolerated their men doing so, there would be very little hanky panky (fun) going on.
In my humble opinion, if a girl has slept with umpteen men before you, so what. As long as she doesn't cheat on you (or is honest enough to let you know she will do), you have no right to be jealous of her past. Wouldn't you think she was strange if she was jealous of yours?
I also have met several prostitutes in my line of work and most are unfortunate people who do what they do for survival, so don't consider them as inferior.

Its a job for a prostitute. They get paid for it. Its done with no emotional connection at all.
For a girl who has had a lot of boyfriends, I say GOOD FOR HER! It takes a lot to get out there and meet people and search for the right one or just to enjoy their company for fun. I think more people should do that , maybe if they were with more varieties, then you would know what works, what doesn't and what you really like in a person. Then we would have less divorces.

What is your problem? Why even ask this? Some of the responses gross me out even more.
A prostitute gets paid to perform sexual acts.
A girl/woman who has/had several boyfriends is not a prostitute, nor is she a slut or whatever word you want to use. She's just a girl/woman who's dated a few people.

OK a prostitutes do not have boy Friend,.. but johns,,. and they will sleep with anywhere from 3 to 10 different ones in a night.and get paid for it.. a boyfriend if she has had many.. she may have kept him for several weeks or months.. even years depending on her age

A prostitue sleeps with somebody coz she is being paid too, just think of how many times at work you do stuff that you hate but have to coz your getting paid and you think, jesus i wish my boss would stop busting my *** (no pun intended there) whereas most people sleep with a boyfriend coz they 'want' to and its good not for a tenner or whatever it costs at the end (hopefully) and just coz youve had several boyfriends does not mean youve rode the love sausage with them all! ;)
As in person wise i would say none, its not my career choice but hey if you wanna do it, im not going to pish on your bonfire!!! And doesnt make you a scummy person just coz that your 'proffesion'

Having a boyfriend does not equal having sex. Even if they do have sex, it's just part of the relationship. Prostitutes have sex because it's a business transaction, not a relationship.

a prostitute is someone you pay for when you want sexual things done. A boyfriend is someone you have strong feelings for. You don't pay your boyfriend for anything. Also, paying a prostitute doesn't make them your boyfriend/girlfriend. So the differences are obvious.

Having numerous boyfriends doesn't necessarily imply sexual relations with any of them. In fact, it could be taken exactly the opposite - the girl loses boyfriends because she won't have sex. How you could equate someone with multiple past boyfriends and prostitution is beyond me.

A prostitute gets paid for her services, and will do it with anyone who pays her. This is very different from a girl who has had several boyfriends.
