I was so shocked (and am very saddened) to hear that yesterday, December 16th, Dan Fogelberg had passed away, and at such a young age, too. Dan Fogelberg dying at the age of 56 is like Eddie Rabbit dying at _50_! It's just one of those things you don't expect to hear. I feel so sad right now.

Are there any Fogelberg fans out there who remember and loved the music of this very talented singer and songwriter? Please share them here if you wouldn't mind. And what is your very _favorite_ D.F. song? Thanks.

I went through a big Dan F. faze a couple years ago... I'm from the '70s and when I get a hankering to hear something that I have on vinyl and haven't heard for awhile, well, I'll just go on a little CD-buying-junket.

Absolutely cannot name a favorite song, but if I had to try, it would include the one that goes 'cause I'm hoping you'll see there's a place beside me if you ever need it'. Longer is it's name. Also *really* love the one with the lines 'woman is like the tides, she comes and goes... she knows the things that I can just suppose'. What a great line!!

Will miss him very much.
Walked down my wedding aisle to a Dan Fogelberg song: Since You've Asked, off the Twin Sons album.

I just finished doing a search on YA and there are a whole lot of posts about Dan Fogelberg's passing, and I actually read through most of them and the majority, like me, have been very touched by him over the years. I actually posted a message on YA last night around 11:00 after I read about it while I was online. I can't even imagine a world without him and any new music that I'm sure he would have written. Fortunately we will always have the music he did create while he was with us. My younger years are filled with memories of his incredible music. I don't really remember exactly how or where I "discovered" him - I like to think he discovered me. He so touched me. I can't narrow down my favorite song to just one - I loved them all. Even though I didn't know him personally, I feel like he knew me because the way he wrote was just the way I thought and felt. His kind of talent is almost non-existent anymore. As far as I'm concerned, he is one of the most gifted and talented artists of my generation. Such a beautiful human being. The world is less now. My heart is hurting.

He was a truly a gifted awe-inspiring singer song writer, like no other and no doubt had so much more to give. I guess "Full Circle" was his way of saying good bye. By listening and remembering his music and playing it, he will live in our hearts and never be forgotten.

So very sad. You would think they could have done more for him in terms of medical care. He was so young and so very special! When I heard the news, it was almost like when John Lennon died, you remember where you were when you heard the news.

Here in Maine, we had a huge snow storm and he died here on the coast last Sunday on a very cold, windy snowy day with the gales rushing into shore. He loved the coast and loved sailing on the beautiful Maine coast (remember his sailing song, one of my favorites?). So maybe he wanted to die here and in hopes that his soul would be close to what he loved most. It's been a tough year and now this too. Hang in there people. Love is all ya need!

Being a tremandous fan of Dan's, I have been to many of his concerts (at least 10-12) and have vivid memories of them, particularly his encores. He performed "There's A Place In The World For A Gambler" almost every time to close out his shows. It was absolutely stirring every time. The entire audience would sing the chorus with him, and you could hear the male and female voices creating a beautiful harmony. At that moment the entire audience felt at one with the performer. I have never felt that before or since at a concert. I will miss that greatly.

I in simple terms finished doing a seek on YA and there are extremely some posts approximately Dan Fogelberg's passing, and that i myself study by maximum of them and maximum folk, like me, have been very touched by using him over the years. i myself published a message on YA final night around 11:00 once I examine it on an analogous time as i became into online. i can't even think of a international without him and any new song that i'm optimistic he would have written. thankfully we are able to continuously have the song he did create on an analogous time as he became into with us. My youthful years are crammed with memories of his outstanding song. i don't likely keep in mind precisely how or the place I "got here across" him - i like to think of he got here across me. He so touched me. even even with the incontrovertible fact that i did not understand him for my section, i've got self assurance like he knew me as a results of fact the way he wrote became into in simple terms the way i presumed and felt. His form of expertise is very virtually non-existent anymore. as far as i'm worried, he's without doubt one in all the main proficient and proficient artists of my era. this sort of captivating individual. the international is way less now. My heart is hurting.
