This varies depending on you. There are many factors involved.

To get a rough ideal of your monthly amount, go to the Social Security Online Calculator of benefits at http://www.ssa.gov/retire2/AnypiaApplet.html for more info. For a detailed quote, check out http://www.ssa.gov/retire2/AnypiaApplet.html and choose what you would like.

You can find a lot of information online by using the Red Book, provided by the Social Security Department. Go to http://www.socialsecurity.gov/redbook/eng/main.htm for all kinds of good information.

Answer all of the questions to get a rough idea of what you will be getting. Also remember that every year, a beneficiary will receive a raise, or rather a gain in the amount of money you receive based on standard living expenses amounts. The amount you get increased in 2008 by something like 3.2%, and the amount of increase in 2007 was something like 3.6%. So every year, the amount of money you get goes up.

The page to find information in order to contact the Social Security Department can be found at http://www.socialsecurity.gov/redbook/eng/howtoreachus.htm .

I am not sure if the amount is the same, whether it is Social Security Income (SSI) (from being a senior citizen), or through Social Security Disability (SSDI) programs. But I think it is the same.

Personally, I started getting $1235 a month in 2005 (I think). I currently will start getting something like $1285 in Janurary of 2008, for SSDI. This seems to be a very high amount. Everyone I talked to at the SS Dept. said they have never seen anyone get as much per month as I do.

Hope this helps.
