Most locomotives have strong motors anymore. You might consider adding a second locomotive for the long hills or extra long coal drags. The Rail roads do all the time.
If you are looking for a specific draw bar pull weight ,you need to contact the manufacturers. See link:

Stephen got it bang on... Model locomotives will pull about what their prototypes would pull, so you either buy the biggest locomotive on the market (his link to Model Railroader Magazine is great), or you pair or triple up some locomotives.

DCC control is perfect for this since you can program several locomotives to work as one in a "consist".

I do this with 3 UP SD-60M's for the 40 car unit coal train that delivers coal to my CoGeneration power plant.
