A cocoon turns into a moth.
A chrysalis turns into a butterfly.

There is no in-between point. A chrysalis is the butterfly equivalent to the cocoon of the moth.

CHRYSALIS is actually the butterfly pupa that grows until it becomes an adult butterfly. On the other hand, the MOTH PUPA are usually the ones encased in a protective silk called COCOON until it grows to be an adult moth.
