when the machines are irefuetably fallible intentionally or unintentionally...while there are soo many reasons why we should only use paper ballots...the only argument that supports E-voting is "well look at the fiasco we had in Florida"...Nevermind who was Governor at the time or how the recount was executed...and it's not like Florida is known for their high IQs.

Now I am offended for those of us in FL who do have high IQs and know what an absolute debacle it was to go to electronic voting and fought against it. It is an issue and will continue to be until they get rid of the electronic machines.
We saw the switch on the DIEBOLD machines in both the 2004 and 2006 elections, particularly during early voting. People saw their Democratic vote change from Dem to Pub when they hit the review button prior to hitting "vote". People raised a stink about it considering it had been occurring in the most democratic county in the state, Broward and it appeared in ONE news cycle, one!!!! and on only one TV station WTVJ, The reporter- Hank Tester. The story disappeared affter that and no one would talk.
There will be some that say the DIEBOLD machines are no more but guess what? all it is is a name change, They are now 'Premier Election Solutions'. We need to go to optical scanners or failing that there needs to be a paper trail.
All I remember is this- when the 2004 elections rolled around, the then Republican Governor Jeb Bush fought vehemently against a paper trail for the machines. He also did the same thing in 2006. The new governor Charlie Crist, has vowed there will be a paper trail to follow in the event there are any questions. I am sorry BUT you cannot expect any rational human being to believe that there has not been any chicanery with regards to these machines consdiering what I cited above as well as a county in FL- Sarasota where 18,000 votes somehow disappeared

You answered your own excellent question. People distrust electronic votin for the reasons you state, and because many companies won't allow entry to verify voting accuracy.

the problem in florida is dem voters were too ignorant to figure out how to work a ballot.

Jeb did not rig the elections.

Several recounts showed Gore losing every time

Thats why Gore tried to have military votes discounted
