I agree with all the things the previous poster put in the pro section however I would heartily disagree with one of his cons: -Less player interaction, good guilds are necessary to make friends.

There is LOTS of player interaction I've played this game as well as the game it's constantly compared to (World of Warcraft) and I didn't join a guild for 4 months. I had PLENTY of interaction going on and the other thing I can tell you is that the players in Guild Wars are more helpful and nicer than the elitist Warcraft players....Good Guilds are necessary to make friends? No...I have made lots of friends that I'm not in a guild with....Besides....one would hope to find a good guild in the game anyway...The name of the game IS Guild Wars afterall....

The other "con" I disagree with is this one:
-Fewer skills at once means selecting them is VERY important.

The fact that skills are limited (fewer) makes the game more challenging. Yes selecting them IS very important as it SHOULD be but unlike WoW, once you've chosen a skill to improve in you're not stuck with it as you have the ability to re-distribute skill points if you feel you've made a bad choice. In WoW, once you've spent the points, you're stuck with it. As I see it the fact that skille are limited making the game more challenging is a pro and not a con. I do agree with the rest of his assessment though...

Enjoy your new game!

Ok, here we go

Pros
-No monthly fee
-Less grinding
-No one doing Ninja looting on you
-Fewer lag issues (with a good connection)
-More intense PvP
-Smaller death penalty
-Monsters don't re-spawn as long as you don't leave a zone
-Less spam, at least outside of towns
-More unique characters

Con
-Harder to from groups, because you aren't as likely to know someone.
-No inter-character mail or auction house.
-Less to collect for people who live for loot drops.
-Less player interaction, good guilds are necessary to make friends.
-Less loot makes grinding for money MUCH longer.
-Fewer skills at once means selecting them is VERY important.
-While you can change its colors, there are only a couple of different armor types for each class.
