You sat and you watched
As I nearly destroyed myself
Never had I felt so betrayed
That you would sacrifice my life
For no more than your comfort
And now you mean nothing to me
You are a coward, the antithesis of a friend
Take action before there is
No one left to defend
For I would have stood by you

Wow what a great poem as you tell of how some dead beat left you for dead as they watched as you died a little more each day.' and just stood and watched,In this life some people are so harsh;' I had someone i loved so much hurt me too' for nothing while my son was lieing in the hospital /why do people do this .Why did he do this to me ' the one that loved him' and would give her life for him' which she almost did last nite I was released at 4 am this morning' and i;m still shakeing my head why' why did he betray me ?????Go figure ' thats why life sucks.

You also get extra points for spelling antithesis correctly.
(Is "coward" the antithesis of "friend"? That's a subject for debate in itself).
Excellent poem. Sad subject, but an excellently done poem.

I absolutely loved this poem with it;s harshness and it;s troubling subject matter.and it really hurts my heart to even imagine another person just sitting and waiting ' while your destroying your life' your hopes and whatever else they wanted to take from you...Your poems always come from your heart ' and for this i applaud you .....love you Shelly
