Generally Hindu is a Religeon or the cultrue that sourounds that religion. Indian is anyone fromthe sub-continent and used to include Pakistanis and Bangladeshi. Some time Indian people are called HIndi or the Hindi. HIndu can be used for the national origin but it is most clear if left as describing one of the many religions of India.

Hinduism is a religion. So saying she is Hindu is like saying someone is Christian or Muslim, for example.

Indian refers to nationality. She is Indian. This may mean she was born in and lives in India, she is a resident or citizen of India or her family originates from India (she was born and lives in US but her parents are from India). So someone could be white and from England, but their family has lived in India for generations, so they are Indian. Another example would be the large population of Jewish people in India. If they live in India and are citizens of India, then they are technically Indian!

Most Indians are classified as Asian race or Caucasian depending on which classification system a country's government uses.
