its probably the bearings in your fan wearing out listen to see where it is coming from and replace the fan, they are cheap.

Only a couple of things are capable of making continuous noises. These are fans and hard drives. Everything else would stop running if you did nothing for a moment and just listened to the sound.

If it is your hard drive making a loud noise, I would think your system would be dead by now. Which leaves the fans.

They are not that expensive to buy on the open market and they are fairly easy to replace. All you would need is the screwdriver to open your case and at most one more screwdriver for the size of machine screws holding the fan over its opening. The connection to the power supply is just a typical power cable that plugs and unplugs at will.

You could try canned air. Most of the time it's just dust stuck in the bearings. You can always go to pricewatch.com to snag a new case fan.

what are u running when that happens? sometimes it is just the computer keeping crucial components cool. but if it just does that, the fan is probably faulty. if so, just replace it with a standard computer fan (RadioShack, Newegg....) or if your computer is under warranty then you might be able to get an exact fan for free, possibly even installed for free.
