Not always. What the makers do when they rate the game's requirements is they add up the components of Windows they know will have to be resident, add the resident parts of their game, and find the next highest likely memory amount.
Since Windows XP probably barfs at less than 300 Mb, I would guess that an XP game's real memory requirement when they SAY 512 Mb is on the order of 150-200 Mb of RAM for the actual game code and work space.

No, it require 512mb ram means it recommened u need a least 512mb of ram to run this game. I suggest 1gb ram is better.

yah but thats on absolutly lowest graphics and sound quality.
if you really want better gaming....get 2gb ram.
