Are there any other Democrats out there that want to see our gov't being tougher on violent crime?

Hey, I'm liberal, and I do care about the people, but when they lash out in violent crime, I have no more sympathy for them.
Would any other dems. like to see our candidates less sympathetic to criminals?

i would like to see some serious effort used to fight and punish crime. imagine the money and manpower used in iraq being used to fight crime in this country.

prisons are being closed in michigan due to budget constraints.
no problem for iraq prisons, spend, spend, spend.

Our candidates aren't sympathetic to criminals. Anyone who is convicted of a crime should pay the price the judge orders.

The biggest problem I have when people say things like you have is that they then proceed to bash the rule of law by demonstrating that everyone has a fair chance in court and criminals can't be convicted of things they haven't done, as if these are bad things. If this is what you are talking about then, no, I don't agree with you.

What I would like to see is our government become even handed, practical about crimes, and better at catching criminals. Those are qualities that are often lacking due to the urge to rush and punish without thinking first. That is why most prisoners convicted of non violent crime are in prison instead of being put into various forms of reform that are successful when they are used.

All Americans should care and want the Government to be tougher on violent crimes. Regardless as to who you are, or what party you are affiliated with.

Most democrats are law abiding citizens just like most republicans. You should not use broad brushes when painting people. The Amnesty Immigration Bill was soundly opposed by members of both parties, for example.
