It's one of the hardest parts of writing - making up names. I'm in the middle of a few books myself and I've always found the most unique names seem to stick the best.
Some unpopular names for this time period I've used are:
Girls:
Samantha
Leslie
Carrie
Melody
Isabella
Irena
Cindy
Allison
Amanda
Boys:
Henry
Max
Johnny
Jimmy
Aaron
Try to use names that aren't already famous from another book.
Hope this helps!

What kinda of stories are you writing? What time period do they take place in, also how old are the characters, also what is the significance to each character.....
The reason I ask these questions is because if you are trying to stay realistic to time period you may want to do research and find out popular names of that time, or you can look up what names were you used most in the year a person was born.... also finding out what names mean can help you figure out what name goes with each character's personality...

I'm into writing too. I'm not going to give you any names. Because, probably you won't like any names. Because none of them will fit.
First, picture the character.
Then find a babyname website and search through them.
This is what I do.
When you come across the right name you just know. "This is the one."
Good luck!
