I have the same problem with my Cadillac.. except that it is the driver side that doesnt work you can see that the motor wants to work but it doesnt..
I recently asked the same question as you and they told me it could be a nut at the base of the wiper.. just pop off the cover and tighten the nut and it should work..
I went out there and popped off the cover and tightened the nut with a crescent wrench... and it started working again.. so maybe this is your problem too..
It happened to me when I tried to turn on the windshield wipers and it was frozen.. so dont do that..lol..
Good Luck.. all i needed for mine was a half inch crescent wrench..

Could be the splined shaft is stripped that the wiper arm attaches to or the linkage from the wiper arm to the wiper motor has popped off the wiper motor arm, there's some small clips that hold it on but you have to remove the cowl screen to get at it....check the splined shaft and wiper arm first by seeing if you can move the arm by hand with the wipers turned off....if it moves much, it's probably a stripped spline or arm or both. Remove the arm and operate the wipers....if the splined shaft rotates, the linkage is probably ok.

sorry to burst your bubble Mister Little. . . ., but I no longer trust you! I removed the nut and lifted the arm off the drive pin to find that the aluminium wiper arm was stripped out - all the "grooves" were wiped clean. The recycle yard was out of them (a hot item when it snows) and the Buick dealer wants $51.50 for the arm, and since I don't enjoy that kind of sex, I decided to noodle the problem. Three minutes later I had the arm in the drill press, drilled a #7 hole perpendicular to the drive hole and tapped it for a 1/4-20 stainless steel set screw. The whole process took less than 15 minutes. I replaced the arm and tightened the nut, making sure the arm was where I wanted it to be, then tightened the set screw with an allen wrench - voila!! No more slipping and it works better than a 50 dollar replacement from Buick!!!

The teeth on the shaft the wiper blade is connected to are worn, the driver's side wiper motor is burnt out (that is if they run on separate motors) or on your car the passenger side is the one with the drive motor and the push rod connecting to the driver's side has come off. Good luck. All ways a good idea to buy a Chilton's Guide for your car and then you can attack problems as they arise.

There is one wiper motor that dives one of your wipers. From that wiper there is a linkage bar which connects to the other wiper usually accessed from under the dash. The linkage bar has either popped off or snapped (I had one snap on my car once). I can tell you there won't be 2 motors and no splines will be worn. Trust me.

yeah there's 2 motors so that could be the problem or the power wire could have come loose or chewed by mice
