My cat was locked out of his restroom and used my potted corn stalk plant as a urinal. Is this the bitter end for my plant? What can I do to save it?

I assume when you say corn plant you are talking about a dracena. I had the same problem with one of my plants, and I found the best solution was just to take it out of the pot, knock all the soil off and rinse the roots carefully, and repot it in new soil. It's really hard to get that smell out of the soil, without leaving it ouside for a summer or two. BTW, it did not kill my plant. It just smelled like cat pee until I could fix it.

How did you get a corn plant to grow? Especially inside?I've tried planting dried corn kernals but they never grow...

I love growing weird exotic plants like oranges and mangos indoors here in Canada when it isn't "the norm" and I want to have some corn indoors too so please let me know how you grew it, or if you bought it nevermind.

Personally I don't think your cat peeing on it will harm it at all, in fact some of the things in your cat's urine might be nutrients the plant will want. I'd just leave it. I see dogs urinate on trees, bushes, etc all the time and nothing bad comes of it.

Hi

I'm not a gardening expert but i will suggest you rinse the plant, use plain water and put lots of it thru the soil to dilute salts and unwanted nutrients from your feline cutie
