you take the line out of context but basically the character is saying "let me go so I can kill him.."

the complication with this line is that 'lets' has its very old meaning (on the way out even in shakespeare's time) of 'hinders'.

unhand me gentlemen :: get your hands off me, boys

by heaven i'll make a ghost of him that lets me :: by damn, i'll kill any man who gets in my way

Haven't read it in ages, but I think it means "Get your grubby little hands off me and let me kill that man"
