The company I work for keeps the office temperature way too high. I wanted to see just how hot it was in the office, so I recently brought a thermometer into my cubicle. It said the temperature was 79 degrees, which is WAY too hot for comfort! The next day, someone turned it down to 73, which is a fairly comfortable temperature, and people were complaining that it was cold. That afternoon, the temperature was lower, and people were saying that it had warmed up a little. I wanted to tell them that it was actually colder in the afternoon than in the morning. The day after that, the heat was back up to an unbearable level. Today, it is over 80 degrees! I can't function or concentrate on anything...all I want to do is get out of this. It is literally hell being here because the heat is so high. I don't know how to get people to keep the heat at a reasonable level. Please give me ANY suggestions. I don't think I can handle this for much longer!

I have a small fan on my desk and a small heater underneath my desk. Just a breeze on you from the fan should make you feel better.

That is one of the hazards of working in an office environment. If you are in the minority you may not have many options.

But some things to check is if you are under a vent see if they can turn off that vent. This may cool down your area enough. If this will not work, see if other areas of the office are any better and see if you can move to another area.

If neither of these work, then unless you can convince people to turn it down a bit you might need to purchase a small fan to at least see if that cools it down a bit.

If it is just the employees who are adjusting the thermostat, see if you can talk to management. They may be able to come up with a compromise for everyone in the office. Believe me if you are in an office where the company is paying for the heat they will defiantly be willing to turn it down to save money.

I feel your pain at my work after lunch everyday it gets real cold at my cube I have to put on a light jacket just to sit at my cube and work the people in charge say the temp is fine but they don't spend hours in it to really know I hope yours gets fixed so you won't have to be hot as for me its just an extra piece of clothing in the afternoon

My office is being kept between 76-79 degrees. For me, 68-72 is comfortable. I am so miserable I am looking for a new job. I am devastated because I love my job but I simply can't stand being so uncomfortable everyday.

There are small fans that actually plug into the USB port on your computer. Go to perpetualkid.com and take a look.

Tell your IT people. It's WAY too hot for computers to kep running happily.

Also, you can contact OSHA if it's really bad.
