Some very important things are
1. Take an interest in what you are learning about - its hard to learn anything if you have a bad attitude about it.
2. Develop confidence in what you do. Start at the level you can do something and then challenge yourself ( don't bite off more than you can chew but keep your mouth full ...for a metaphor)
3. Keep focused on what you are doing. Don't watch TV while doing homework - and if you want to be a straight A student - you might need to spend less time with other things ( video games, friends and family) How do artists and athletes succeed? A lot of time spent doing art or sports, etc.

Choose a school with low expectations. They are becoming quite common. But if you want an education along with your A's, follow the advice in the previous answers. It's a great target, but also realize you may lack the capability to achieve this in some subjects. The objective is to develop your God-given talents the best you can. You didn't choose your basic physical and mental capacity. You do choose what you do with it.

Right now I have straight A's. My secret is to always ask for help if I need it, whether I ask a friend or a teacher. Don't worry of asking for help makes you look stpid. Teachers actually respect students who ask for help. Also, I find a balance between all classes. For example, I am good at Spanish and don't need to work much on it, so I focus on subjects that I am not as good at.

Good Luck!

Study hard. It's that simple. Get help for what you don't understand on your own.
