I live in Miami, to give background. This statement sound ridiculous. The only time the surf is worthwhile in Miami is directly before or after a hurricane. Otherwise, the waves are small or nonexistent. I suppose the surf is better around northern Florida or maybe around the Gulf of Mexico, but beyond that, everyone knows that the better surfing to be had is on the west coast.

Cocoa beach is where they used to hold the eastern surf competitions. I don't know if they still do. In November their surf is really decent for east coast standards. Even in the summer they've got okay surf. A lot of surf bums live there, and most of the kids live at the beach.

This doesn't apply to miami. There's no reason to come here to surf. All the surfing locals go up to cocoa.

I live, Clearwater Beach, right, only surf is after a storm. If we have hi winds, maybe, but minor surf. Head to the Pacific Ocean, great!!!
