"Supportive" is not the proper term you're looking for. He's an intelligent, likable, articulate, young and outgoing politician. He does not owe his success to his marriage. He seems to be willing to admit some mistakes he has made in his personal life. He seems to be honest and is a straight talker. I know exactly what he believes.

I don't think you need some conspiracy theory as to why even Republicans like him.

Of course I could never vote for a socialist.

Give people a little credit. Obama seems to genuinely want to rise above partisan politics. Informed people realize the struggle doesn't end when you win an election. Then you have to govern. And Washington is in total gridlock now. Many people of both parties are looking for someone who will try to change things, and this has been Obama's method and message from the beginning.
