A pair of oppositely charged parallel plates are separated by a distance of 5 cm with a potential difference of 550V between the plates.A proton is released from rest at the positive plate at the same time that an electron is released from rest at the negative plate.Disregard any interaction between the proton and the electron.

a) how long does it take for paths of the proton and electron to cross?

b) how fast will each particle be going when their paths cross?

c) How much time will elapse before the proton reaches the positive plate?

The electric field between the plates is 550 V / .05 m = 11,000 V / M or N / C. So the force on the charged particles is

F = ma = qE

Both the proton and the electron experience the same force, but they have different masses so the will have different accelerations.

m_electron = 9.11 x 10^-31 kg
m_proton = 1.67 x 10^-27 kg = about 1800 x electron mass.

Now solve for the accelerations of each and use the usual kinematics to find where their paths meet and their velocities at that time. You should expect that the electron, with much less mass, will have the greater acceleration and will be practically all the way across before it meets the proton.

i've got not considered the Dibiase boys, yet i like Cody Rhodes' potential. he's already have been given the presents to be between the large in-ring opposition of his time. He in simple terms desires some extra time to mature and be sure his character. i think of if he could be 0.5 exceptionally much as good on the mic as Dusty is, there could be not something combating him from being a multi-time international champion. i do in contrast to DH Smith. He has way too lots of a toddler face. i don't think of he has the character to make it. I observed him merchandising in that Cena/Orton vs. uncooked tournament some weeks in the past, and he had a number of the worst pained facial expressions I even have ever considered. He oversold it too lots. Of those I even have considered, Cody Rhodes feels like he has limitless potential. i think of DH Smith would be at terrific a midcarder, Teddy Hart will in no way quantity to something as a results of fact of his physique of strategies, and that i will could wait and notice the different potential 2d and third era wrestlers before I sort an opinion on them.
