Remember that emotions/feelings include love, hate, ego, selfishness, happy, sad, hurt, fear, excited, moody, anxiety, etc. So without those human race will be driven solely by logic, reasoning, intelligence, rationale, and wisdom. Roles in society will likely be governed by the individuals' talents/capabilities. No egotistical ambition. Sort of like ant society. Am I right?

I do not think the replicants in Blade Runner are human. Though they may be able to think, and have memories; they are not true thoughts or memories that a real human would have. The thoughts and memories a replicant has are only due to how they are designed and programmed. There are events in my past I wish I could remember better, and I have memories I wish I could forget. These make me who I am. Everyone has a past, whether its good or bad. A replicant is not an individual, they are who whomever made them, wants them to be.

When Leon went searching for the pictures, he was trying to hold on to his “memories”. The pictures were just a physical addition to the memories he had to prove that he had a past. Pictures can be very deceiving. Humans have memories that can neither be created nor destroyed. Replicants have no control over their memories. It is sad to imagine people being able to control another creature’s “past.” This is no different than brainwashing someone.

well, the thing is that all the emotions are motivators. and also that humans are social animals and all those emotions are involved in creating and maintaining the relationships we need. define you ideal society a little better, more fully, start to think how people would act without emotion and see where it leads. see if your ideal society really does require emotion. i mean why would anyone take care of or love their children? would that be a good idea to you if your mother never loved you?

We will never know.. we've always had emotion so to fathom a world without is like saying 2+2 = 5, its just beyond the realm of thinking..

woow
great question.
i believe
they are the driving force, the power, and the motor of our life. without feelings and emotions we would be like robots, a computer operating a body with the help of electric signals.
it is the feelings and emotions, our likes and dislikes, that give our life meaning, that make us happy or unhappy, fulfilled or dissatisfied and that to a large degree decide our course of action and even our health. Diseases not only make us feel unwell, but negative and suppressed emotions and feelings are a major contributing factor in causing our diseases.
when we are young, we are full of feelings and emotions, we experience them strongly, we are sensitive and react immediately and directly to our social and physical environment.
it is hard to picture a world
without
love
hate
pain
fear
sadness
etc.
it would be like living because of nothing and for nothing.
